Class Profiles Oak Park Yoga teaches Hatha Yoga. Hatha Yoga refers to the third limb of Yoga, the asanas or postures. Hatha Yoga classes teach the proper alignment and form of the asanas/postures, combining movement and stillness with breath awareness. The practice of Hatha Yoga is individual and asanas/postures can be adapted to nearly everyone. A regular Hatha Yoga practice gifts us with infinite benefits, as the practice is both a preventative and a curative tool towards physical/emotional wellness or balance. INTRODUCTION TO HATHA YOGA provides an excellent entrance into your yoga practice. The wisdom that William Hunt, Director or Teacher Training at the Temple of Kriya Yoga, brings to this course, will help you overcome any initial obstacles that yoga may present to you. You will learn to develop hip and shoulder stability, postural alignment, and improved breathing capacity -- all of which promote calmness, vitality, and strength. Upon completion, you will feel a confidence when attending other yoga classes. Many newer students find it difficult to figure what postures and routines to practice at home. The handouts that you receive will summarize what you have learned and provide sequences that you can practice when you are away from the studio. This course requires pre-registration. Please out the registration and mail it or leave it at the front desk when you come for the first class in the series. The asanas/postures will be refined and the focus will be on the subtler aspects of the practice including more complex and challenging practice routines.
