Mary Fischer

Mary is a certified Hatha Yoga instructor who graduated from the Temple of Kriya Yoga teacher training in 2004. She began her practice of yoga in 2000 as a therapeutic remedy for chronic migraine headaches and deepened her study as she experienced yoga’s life-changing effects. Mary continues to study with her primary teacher Kim Schwartz and also has taken classes and workshops with teachers Heidi Ash and Tias Little, among others.

Mary blends her passions for yoga, self-discovery, and her study of earth-honoring traditions to create a class that opens our hearts, as well as our bodies, so that we can live more fully.

She uses the power of intention-setting to create a focus for each class and believes asana practice can help us gain greater insight into our lives. Her teaching emphasizes alignment and subtle movements to increase students’ awareness of the body, and she encourages focused in-turning so that students can deepen their understanding of their personal asana practice.

Mary tries to create a class that is challenging, yet nurturing, and hopes that students leave feeling more grounded, empowered and connected to their own intuitive selves.

Mary believes yoga can inspire powerful personal – as well as planetary – healing, and she is deeply grateful to all of the yogis who come to her classes for sharing this magical journey with her. You can e-mail Mary at yoga.shakti@yahoo.com.
